The making of this interface was triggered by the idea that our memory, especially the act of remembering, messes with our linear sense of time. Each time we remember, the memory is changed by the conditions of the present, while also interfering with the present moment in which it’s recalled.

Here the past and present frames of a live camera feed are converted into custom ASCII characters and merged. As they collide into a single visual stream, they overwrite and distort each other, treating memory as an active process of reshaping the now. Or the other way around.
